Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for your Zambia eVisa at the official eVisa portal. Processing takes 3–5 business days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport to present at immigration.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Zambia. No minimum validity period beyond your departure date is required by Zambian law, but airlines may enforce 6 months validity — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing your departure from Zambia within your visa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Zambia. Immigration may ask for it at the border, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient cash or card
Be ready to show you have enough money for your stay — around $500 USD equivalent in cash, traveler's cheques, or a credit card statement. ATMs are available in Lusaka but not always reliable.Recommended
eVisa is the only option
There is no visa on arrival for Egyptian passport holders. You must have an approved eVisa before you travel. Don't show up at the airport without one.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Zambia, not from your departure date. If it expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Zambia eVisa portal (evisa.zambiaimmigration.gov.zm). Fill in your personal and travel details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee with a credit or debit card. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but can be faster.
2
Receive and print your eVisa
You'll get an approval email with a PDF attachment. Print at least one copy and save a digital version on your phone. The immigration officer at the airport will scan the barcode.
3
Arrive at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport (Lusaka)
Most flights from Egypt arrive at Lusaka. Follow signs to 'Immigration' — there's a separate queue for eVisa holders. Have your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation booking ready. The officer will stamp you in.
4
Proceed to baggage claim and customs
After immigration, collect your bags and walk through customs. There's usually a green channel for nothing to declare and a red channel for goods over $500 or restricted items.
