Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay in Cyprus
Your Spanish passport needs to be valid for the whole time you are in Cyprus. Cyprus follows Schengen rules for passport validity — no 6-month requirement beyond departure. Airlines may still ask for 6 months validity, so check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Cyprus
Immigration officers at Larnaca and Paphos airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready. This applies even for short visits.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a copy of your hotel reservation, Airbnb confirmation, or a letter from your host. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during the stay
Have a bank statement or credit card ready. Cyprus does not enforce a fixed minimum amount, but officers may ask how you plan to cover your expenses. A recent statement showing a few hundred euros is enough.Recommended
Cyprus is now part of the Schengen Area
Since 2024, Cyprus applies Schengen rules for short stays. Your 90-day limit counts across all Schengen countries, not just Cyprus. Keep track of your days if you plan to visit other Schengen states.
No arrival declaration needed
You do not need to fill out any arrival form or pre-register online before traveling to Cyprus. Just show up with your passport and supporting documents.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at passport control
At Larnaca or Paphos airports, join the 'All Passports' queue. Have your passport ready. The officer will scan it and may ask your purpose of visit, length of stay, and where you're staying.
2
Present supporting documents if asked
If the officer asks, show your return ticket, accommodation booking, and travel insurance. Keep them easily accessible — not buried in your bag.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry. This stamp determines your allowed stay. Check it before leaving the counter.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There are no additional forms or declarations for standard tourist visits.

No, but it is strongly recommended. Immigration officers rarely ask for it, but if you need medical care, costs can be high. A basic policy costs around €10–20 for a week.
Overstaying is a violation of immigration law. You may be fined, banned from re-entering Cyprus or the Schengen Area, and could face deportation. Always leave before your 90 days are up.
