Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Spanish passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Hong Kong. Hong Kong does not enforce a 6-month validity rule for Spanish nationals, but your airline might check for at least 3 months remaining.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Hong Kong
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket at the border. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready — they check this before stamping you in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Hong Kong. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it ready avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Have access to at least 500 HKD per day of your stay, either in cash, credit card, or bank statement. Immigration may ask to see proof of funds if you look like you might work illegally.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your entry date. Airlines check this before boarding in Spain. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.
No visa needed, but don't skip the checklist
Visa-free doesn't mean no preparation. Having your return ticket, accommodation, and insurance ready makes immigration smooth. The queue at HKG can be long — being prepared saves time.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Hong Kong International Airport (HKG)
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Immigration'. There are separate queues for Hong Kong residents, Chinese nationals, and visitors. Join the 'Visitors' queue.
2
Present your passport and boarding pass
Hand over your Spanish passport and your boarding pass. The officer may ask the purpose of your visit, how long you're staying, and where you're staying. Answer briefly and honestly.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the date by which you must leave (90 days later). Check the stamp before walking away.
4
Collect luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. Then walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no restricted items. If you have food, alcohol, or large amounts of cash, use the red channel.
