Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Nigeria eVisa
Apply for a Nigeria eVisa at the official Immigration Service portal before you travel. The eVisa is a single-entry permit, and you need to upload your passport data page, a passport photo, and pay the fee online. Approval takes 3–5 business days — do not book non-refundable flights until you have the visa in hand.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond your intended stay
Your Spanish passport needs at least 6 months of validity remaining from your date of entry into Nigeria. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Lagos and Abuja airports routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight. Have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready — they will not let you through without it.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation letter
Carry a confirmed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your Nigerian host. Immigration may ask where you are staying, and having a booking speeds up the process.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a recent bank statement or enough cash (around $500 USD equivalent) to show you can support yourself during your stay. Officers rarely ask, but it is better to have proof ready.Recommended
Print your eVisa — no digital copy accepted
Immigration officers at Nigerian airports require a printed copy of your eVisa approval letter. A screenshot on your phone is not enough. Print at least two copies and keep them with your passport.
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must show a valid International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on arrival at your own expense.

What happens at the border
