Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Russia eVisa
Apply for your Russia eVisa at the official portal before departure. The eVisa allows a single entry for up to 16 days. Processing takes up to 4 calendar days — apply at least a week before your trip.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Passport validity
Your Spanish passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Russia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Russian airports routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they may check the date matches your eVisa validity.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation
Have a hotel reservation or a formal invitation (from a tour operator or private host) ready. Immigration may ask for it at the border — a printed confirmation works best.Recommended
Proof of funds
Financial means
Carry evidence of sufficient funds for your stay — a bank statement or credit card showing at least 500 EUR per day of your trip. Officers rarely ask, but it's better to have it.Recommended
eVisa is single-entry only
You cannot leave Russia and re-enter on the same eVisa. If you plan to visit neighboring countries, you'll need a multiple-entry visa.
Keep your migration card
Upon entry, you'll receive a migration card (small paper slip). Keep it with your passport at all times. You'll need to hand it back when you leave.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the official Russian eVisa website (evisa.kdmid.ru). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a digital photo. Submit and pay the fee (if any). Processing usually takes up to 4 calendar days.
2
Receive eVisa approval
Check your email and the eVisa portal for the decision. Once approved, download the eVisa PDF or save the confirmation number. Print a copy or keep it on your phone.
3
Arrive at Russian border control
At the airport (e.g., Moscow Sheremetyevo or St. Petersburg Pulkovo), join the foreign passport queue. Present your passport and the eVisa confirmation. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details. They'll stamp your passport with an entry stamp.
4
Register your stay (if required)
If staying in a hotel, the hotel registers you automatically. If staying in a private apartment, you must register with the local migration office within 7 days of arrival. Your host can help.
