Ethiopian passport holders can enter Singapore without a visa for tourism or business visits up to 30 days. This visa-free arrangement is valid through 2026, but you must meet specific entry requirements at the checkpoint.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Singapore enforces the 6-month passport validity rule strictly. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. Carry a copy of your passport bio page separately.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Singapore
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward ticket. A flight booking out of Singapore within 30 days works. Without one, you risk being denied entry and sent back on the next flight.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host ready. Immigration may ask where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or bank statement
Carry at least SGD 1,000 (or equivalent in cash, traveler's cheques, or a credit card statement). Immigration can ask to see proof you can support yourself during your stay.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Singapore. Airlines check this at check-in — if it's close, renew before you fly.
No visa, but still need documents
Even though you don't need a visa, immigration officers can ask for proof of onward travel, accommodation, and funds. Have these ready to avoid delays.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before travel
Check your passport validity (6+ months), print or save your return ticket and first-night hotel booking. Download an eSIM or buy a local SIM at Changi Airport.
2
Arrive at Changi Airport or Woodlands Checkpoint
At Changi, follow signs to 'Foreign Passports' immigration counters. For land entry from Malaysia, use the automated lanes if eligible, otherwise join the manual counter queue.
3
Present your passport and supporting documents
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask for your return ticket and hotel address. Answer clearly. They will stamp your passport with a 30-day visit pass.
4
Collect baggage and exit
After clearing immigration, collect your luggage from the carousel and proceed through customs. No arrival declaration form is needed.
