Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in Belarus. No minimum validity beyond departure is required, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Belarus
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this at the border, especially if you arrive by air.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Officers may ask for a hotel reservation or a notarized invitation from a Belarusian host. Keep a printed booking confirmation or invitation letter in your carry-on.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show sufficient money for your stay
You may need to show at least €50 per day of stay in cash, bank statement, or credit card. ATMs are available in Minsk but carry some euros or dollars as backup.Recommended
Visa-free entry
30 days visa-free for Finnish passport holders
Finnish citizens can enter Belarus without a visa for up to 30 days. This applies only for stays that do not exceed 30 days total — you cannot extend or re-enter to reset the clock. Enter via Minsk National Airport or land borders with Poland, Lithuania, or Latvia.Check visa-free rulesRequired
6-month passport validity is strictly enforced
Belarusian border officials will deny entry if your passport expires within 6 months of your arrival date. Check your passport now — if it's close, renew before you book.
Keep a copy of your documents
Take photos of your passport, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation. Store them in your phone and email a copy to yourself. If you lose your documents, this makes replacement much easier.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Minsk National Airport (MSQ) or land border
At MSQ, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for non-Belarusian passports. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will check your documents, stamp your passport, and wave you through. At land borders, the process is similar but may take longer.
2
Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport, return ticket (printed or on phone), and accommodation confirmation. The officer may ask a few questions (purpose of visit, length of stay). Answer clearly and briefly.
3
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (30 days). Check the stamp before leaving the counter. If anything looks wrong, ask for clarification immediately.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim (if you checked bags), then go through customs. There are two channels: green (nothing to declare) and red (goods to declare). If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel.
