Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Côte d'Ivoire eVisa through the SNEDAI portal at least 5 business days before departure. The eVisa is valid for a single entry and allows a stay of up to 90 days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Côte d'Ivoire. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires before you leave, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Abidjan airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready. If you're flying out to a third country, that ticket also counts.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Carry a hotel reservation confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Côte d'Ivoire. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you're staying more than a few days.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least 500 EUR (or equivalent) for your stay. Officers rarely ask, but it's a legal requirement for entry.Recommended
Yellow fever certificate required
You must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on the spot.
Currency and cash
Côte d'Ivoire uses the West African CFA franc (XOF). Credit cards are accepted in major hotels and restaurants in Abidjan, but cash is king elsewhere. ATMs are common in cities.
