Visa on arrival
Finnish passport holders get a free 30-day visa on arrival at Hamad International Airport in Doha. Hand over your passport at the immigration counter — no pre-application needed. The visa is single-entry and cannot be extended.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Valid passport
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Qatar. Airlines at Helsinki-Vantaa check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Return or onward ticket
Immigration officers at Doha routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready. Without one, you risk being refused entry and sent back on the next flight.Required
Proof of accommodation
Proof of accommodation
Carry a hotel booking confirmation or an invitation letter from your host in Qatar. Immigration may ask for it at the counter, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Proof of funds
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you can cover your stay. Qatari immigration rarely asks for it, but budget airlines like Flydubai or Pegasus may check at check-in.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check your passport validity before boarding. If you have less than 6 months left, you won't be allowed to fly. Check your passport now, not at the airport.
Visa on arrival is straightforward
The process at Hamad International Airport takes about 10-15 minutes. Have your documents ready and you'll be through quickly.

What happens at the border

Arrive at Hamad International Airport
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then to 'Visa on Arrival' counters. These are clearly marked and separate from the main immigration queues.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport, return ticket (printed or on phone), and accommodation booking. The officer will process your visa on the spot.
3
Pay the visa fee
The visa-on-arrival fee is 100 QAR (about €25). Pay by credit card or cash (Qatari riyals). Keep the receipt.
4
Get your visa stamp
The officer stamps your passport with a 30-day visa. Check the expiry date before leaving the counter.
5
Proceed to baggage claim and exit
After the visa stamp, you can collect your luggage and walk through customs. No further checks for Finnish passport holders.
