Visa on arrival
Get a 30-day single-entry visa on arrival at Kigali International Airport or any land border. Pay $30 USD in cash (exact change recommended) — they don't accept cards. Have your passport photo ready, though they'll take a digital photo at the counter.Apply onlineRequired
Valid passport
Original passport with at least 6 months validity
Your Finnish passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Rwanda. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration officers at Kigali Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they'll check the date matches your visa duration.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a bank statement or enough cash (around $200 USD equivalent) to cover your stay. Immigration rarely asks, but it's better to have proof ready.Recommended
Cash only for visa on arrival
The visa on arrival fee must be paid in USD cash. There is no ATM or card payment at the visa counter. Bring $30–$50 in small bills.
e-Visa available
You can apply for an e-visa online before travel. It costs the same $30 USD and is processed in 3–5 business days. This lets you skip the visa queue at the airport. Apply at migration.gov.rw.
