Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Togo eVisa at evisa.gouv.tg. The online form takes about 15 minutes — you'll need a passport scan, a digital photo, and a credit card for the fee. Approval usually comes within 3 business days, but apply at least a week before your flight to be safe.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Finnish passport needs to be valid for at least the entire time you plan to stay in Togo. No specific 6-month rule applies here — just cover your dates. Airlines may still check validity at check-in.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Togo
Immigration officers at Lomé–Tokoin Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket before granting entry. Have a printed or digital copy ready — a bus ticket to a neighboring country also works if you're overlanding.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Togo. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it speeds things up if you get pulled aside.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Have a bank statement or credit card showing at least €500–€1,000 available. Togo doesn't publish a fixed minimum, but showing you have money for accommodation and food avoids any questions.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination is mandatory
You must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) at immigration. No card, no entry — no exceptions.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, passport scan, and flight confirmation on your phone and in cloud storage. If you lose the printout, you can show the digital version.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.tg, fill in your personal and travel details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (30,000 XOF, about €45) by credit card. You'll receive a confirmation email with a reference number.
2
Wait for approval
Processing usually takes 2-5 business days. You'll get an email with the approved eVisa as a PDF. Print it out and save a copy on your phone.
3
Arrive at Lomé–Tokoin Airport (LFW)
When you land, head to immigration. Present your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. They'll stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 10-15 minutes if you have everything ready.
4
Keep documents handy during your stay
Carry a copy of your passport and eVisa with you. Police checks happen occasionally, especially in Lomé.
