Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official portal before travel. The eVisa is valid for 90 days from issue and allows a single entry for up to 90 days. Processing takes 2–3 business days, so apply at least a week before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have at least 6 months validity
Your Finnish passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Uganda. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Entebbe Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Border officers occasionally ask for this, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient cash or bank statement
Have at least $300 USD in cash or a recent bank statement showing available funds. Immigration may ask how you plan to support yourself during your stay.Recommended
Yellow fever certificate may be required
Uganda requires proof of yellow fever vaccination if you're arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever. Even if you're coming directly from Finland, carry the certificate — immigration officers sometimes ask for it. Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa approval, passport, return ticket, and hotel booking as PDFs or screenshots on your phone. Also email them to yourself. If your phone dies or gets lost, you can access them from any device.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to visas.immigration.go.ug, fill in the form, upload your passport photo and passport data page, and pay the fee (around $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa). Processing takes 2–5 business days. You'll receive an approval letter by email.
2
Print or save your eVisa approval
Once approved, print the letter or save a clear copy on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and upon arrival in Uganda.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
Most flights land at Entebbe. Follow signs to 'Immigration' — there are separate queues for eVisa holders and visa-on-arrival. Hand over your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, pick up your bags from the carousel, then proceed through customs. There's usually a quick baggage scan. You're free to go after that.

Frequently asked questions

A single-entry tourist eVisa costs around $50 USD. You pay online by credit or debit card during the application. There are also multiple-entry and transit options — check the official portal for current fees.
Most applications are processed within 2–5 business days. Apply at least a week before your trip to be safe. If you're in a rush, you can try the 'urgent' option for an extra fee, but it's not guaranteed.
No, the eVisa is not extendable. If you need to stay longer, you must leave the country and apply for a new visa. Plan your trip accordingly.
Yes, Uganda requires proof of yellow fever vaccination if you're arriving from a country with risk of yellow fever. Even if you're coming directly from Finland, it's strongly recommended — immigration may ask for the certificate. Get the vaccine at least 10 days before travel.
You can apply for a visa on arrival at Entebbe Airport, but it's more expensive (around $100 USD) and involves longer queues. The eVisa is cheaper and faster — do it online beforehand.
The standard tourist eVisa is single-entry. If you plan to leave and re-enter Uganda (e.g., for a safari in Kenya), you'll need a multiple-entry visa. Select that option when applying — it costs more.
You'll be denied entry. Renew your passport before applying for the eVisa. The 6-month validity is strictly enforced.
