Finnish passport holders can get a visa on arrival in Zimbabwe. You'll receive a single-entry visa at the airport or land border, valid for up to 30 days. This policy has been in effect since 2025.
Visa on arrival at Zimbabwe airports and land borders
Finnish passport holders can get a single-entry visa on arrival at Harare, Bulawayo, Victoria Falls, and other major ports of entry. The visa costs $30–$55 USD depending on duration (30–90 days). Pay in crisp US dollars — worn or marked bills get rejected. You can also apply online in advance at the Zimbabwe eVisa portal to skip the queue.Apply for eVisa
Required
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your stay
Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into Zimbabwe. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied at check-in. Two blank pages are required for the visa sticker and entry stamp.
Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Zimbabwe
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at passport control. They want to see you have a flight out of Zimbabwe within your visa validity. A printed itinerary or digital boarding pass works fine.
Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host ready. Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked tour. A printout of your booking confirmation is enough.
Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Carry at least $500 USD in cash or have a credit card with a visible balance. Zimbabwe is a cash-heavy economy — US dollars are widely accepted, and ATMs are unreliable. Immigration rarely asks, but it's safer to have proof.
Recommended
Cash only for visa fee
The visa on arrival must be paid in US dollars cash. No cards, no other currencies. Bring small bills ($10s and $20s) – officers rarely have change.
Keep your visa receipt
The receipt you get when paying the visa fee may be requested when you leave Zimbabwe. Don't throw it away.
What happens at the border
1
Arrive at immigration counter
At Harare or Victoria Falls airport, follow signs to 'Visa on Arrival' or 'Immigration'. Join the queue for foreign passports.
2
Present your documents
Hand over your passport, completed arrival card (usually given on the plane), and your return ticket. The officer will check your passport validity and blank page.
3
Pay the visa fee
Pay $30 USD in cash. The officer will give you a receipt. Keep it – you may need it when leaving.
4
Receive your visa sticker
The officer stamps a visa sticker into your passport. Check the validity dates before walking away. You're free to enter.
