Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for your Cameroon eVisa at the official portal. Processing takes a few business days, so apply at least a week before departure. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your UK passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Cameroon. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Cameroonian law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Yaoundé and Douala airports routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmations or an invitation letter from your host can smooth the immigration process. Officers may ask where you're staying, so have a copy handy.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
Carry evidence of sufficient funds for your stay, such as bank statements or a credit card. While not always checked, it can help if questioned about your ability to support yourself.Recommended
Yellow fever certificate is mandatory
You must have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (the 'yellow card') to enter Cameroon. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport — which can be expensive and inconvenient.
eVisa is linked to your passport
Your eVisa is electronically linked to your passport number. You don't need to carry the printed copy, but it's strongly recommended — airport staff may ask to see it. Keep a digital backup on your phone.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your eVisa online
Go to the official eVisa portal (evisacameroon.com). Fill in your personal details, passport info, and travel dates. Upload a digital passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around £80–£100 depending on processing speed). Processing takes 3–7 business days. You'll receive the approved eVisa by email as a PDF.
2
Print your eVisa and pack supporting documents
Print two copies of the eVisa — one to keep with your passport, one as backup. Also print your return ticket, first night hotel booking, and travel insurance certificate. Save digital copies on your phone too.
3
Arrive at the airport in Cameroon
At Yaoundé Nsimalen International Airport or Douala International Airport, proceed to the immigration desk. Hand over your passport and printed eVisa. The officer may ask to see your return ticket and hotel booking. Answer questions clearly. The process usually takes 5–10 minutes if your documents are in order.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. You may be asked to show your yellow fever vaccination certificate at customs — have it ready. Then exit into the arrivals hall.
