Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Togo eVisa at evisa.gouv.tg before you fly. Processing takes 3–7 working days — do not wait until the last minute. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your UK passport needs at least one blank page for the visa sticker. Togo does not enforce a 6-month validity rule — your passport just needs to be valid for the duration of your trip.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Lomé Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return flight. Have your booking printed or saved on your phone.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter from your host. Officers rarely check it, but having it ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Have at least 200,000 CFA francs (about £260) in cash or a recent bank statement showing sufficient balance. Immigration may ask to see it on arrival.Recommended
Yellow fever certificate required
Togo requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for all travellers over 1 year old. You'll be turned away at immigration without it. Get the vaccine at least 10 days before travel.
eVisa is digital — print it anyway
While the eVisa is digital, having a printed copy avoids any phone battery or screen issues. Keep both a print and a phone screenshot.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.tg, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and passport scan, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 2–3 business days. You'll receive an approval email with a PDF attachment.
2
Print or save your eVisa
Print a copy of the eVisa approval and also save it on your phone. Some airlines ask to see it at check-in.
3
Arrive at Lomé Airport
At Lomé–Tokoin Airport, head to the immigration desk. Present your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket. You'll get an entry stamp — no additional forms needed.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. There's a customs check but it's usually quick for tourists.
