Uganda entry requirements for United Kingdom passport holders
British passport holders need an eVisa to enter Uganda. The application is entirely online, and you should have your approval before you travel. As of 2026, the process is straightforward if you have your documents ready.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| eVisa application Apply before travel | Apply for your Uganda eVisa at the official portal at least 2 weeks before departure. The eVisa costs $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa and takes 3–5 business days to process. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Entebbe will stamp the visa on arrival.Apply for eVisa | Required |
| Valid passport Must have 6 months validity | Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry into Uganda. It also needs at least two blank pages for entry and exit stamps. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Required for entry | Immigration officers at Entebbe Airport will ask for proof of a return or onward flight before stamping you in. Have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready. If you are overlanding to a neighboring country, show a bus or ferry booking instead. | Required |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or invitation letter | Carry a printed copy of your hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you are arriving without a pre-booked tour. A simple booking confirmation from Booking.com or Airbnb works. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Show you can support your stay | Have a bank statement or credit card showing at least $200 USD per day of your stay. Immigration rarely asks for it, but if you look underprepared, they may request proof. A recent statement from your bank app is fine. | Recommended |
