Ghanaian passport holders need a visa to enter Armenia in 2026. Apply online before you travel — there are no visa-on-arrival options for Ghanaian citizens. Processing can take several business days, so plan ahead.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply online before travel
Apply for an Armenian eVisa at evisa.mfa.am. Processing takes 3–5 working days, and the visa is valid for 21 days single entry. Print the approval email and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your Ghanaian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Armenia. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers at Zvartnots Airport routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing your departure from Armenia within the eVisa validity period.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you are staying. Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and contact number. A simple booking printout works fine.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or cash showing at least $50 USD per day of your stay. Officers rarely ask, but if they do, you need to prove you are not working illegally or overstaying.Recommended
No visa on arrival — apply before you fly
Ghanaian passport holders cannot get a visa at the airport. You must have an approved e-Visa before you board your flight to Armenia. Airlines will check this at check-in.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Armenia, not from the day you apply for the visa or the day you depart. Double-check your expiry date before booking anything.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for your e-Visa online
Go to the official Armenian e-Visa portal at evisa.mfa.am. Fill in the application form, upload a digital passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the visa fee online. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but can be faster. You'll receive the approved visa by email — print a copy and save a PDF on your phone.
2
Prepare your documents for travel
Before you leave, gather: your printed e-Visa, passport with 6+ months validity, return/onward ticket, first-night accommodation confirmation, and travel insurance documents. Keep them in a single folder in your carry-on.
3
Arrive at Zvartnots International Airport (EVN)
When you land in Yerevan, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Have your passport, printed e-Visa, and return ticket ready. The officer will check your visa, stamp your passport, and ask a few questions (purpose of visit, where you're staying). Answer clearly and briefly.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim. Once you have your bags, walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no goods to declare. If you're carrying more than 10,000 USD (or equivalent) in cash or valuables, use the red channel and declare them.

Frequently asked questions

Processing typically takes 3–5 business days, but can be as fast as 1–2 days. Apply at least a week before your departure to be safe. The official portal is evisa.mfa.am.
The standard e-Visa fee for a single-entry tourist visa is around 6,000 AMD (about 15 USD) plus a small processing fee. Check the evisa.mfa.am portal for the exact current amount — fees can change.
No, the e-Visa is not extendable. If you need to stay longer, you must leave Armenia and apply for a new visa from abroad. Overstaying can result in fines and future entry bans.
Ghanaian passport holders cannot get a visa on arrival in Armenia. If you arrive without an approved e-Visa, you will be denied entry and sent back on the next available flight. You'll also have to cover the cost of your return ticket.
It's not a formal requirement for the e-Visa, but immigration officers may ask how you'll support yourself during your stay. Having a credit card or a few hundred USD in cash is a good idea. A bank statement is not usually needed.
No. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. If it's close to expiring, renew it before you apply for the e-Visa. The visa itself is tied to your passport number.
Armenia does not offer a specific transit visa for Ghanaian passport holders. If you're transiting through Zvartnots Airport and staying airside (not passing through immigration), you generally don't need a visa. But if you need to leave the airport, you must have a valid e-Visa.
