Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a DR Congo eVisa at visa.gouv.cd before departure. Processing takes 3–5 business days — do not book flights until approved. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond your stay
Your Ghanaian passport must have at least 6 months of validity remaining from your departure date from DR Congo. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at N'djili Airport routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in DR Congo. Officers at immigration may ask where you are staying — having a booking ready avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Cash or bank statement
Immigration may ask to see proof you can support yourself during your stay. Bring a recent bank statement or enough cash (USD is widely accepted) to cover your trip.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must show your yellow fever vaccination card (yellow card) at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on the spot at your own expense.
Keep your documents accessible
Immigration at N'djili Airport can be slow. Have your passport, eVisa approval, return ticket, and yellow card ready in your hand. It speeds things up significantly.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official DR Congo eVisa portal (visa.gouv.cd). Fill in your personal and travel details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and save your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get a PDF by email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and on arrival.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
At the airport in Ghana, the airline will check your eVisa, passport validity, and onward ticket. Have them ready. Boarding won't be allowed without the eVisa.
4
Arrive at N'djili Airport (FIH) in Kinshasa
After landing, follow signs to immigration. Present your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it when leaving.
5
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, go to baggage claim, then customs. There's usually no customs declaration form for personal items. Exit into the arrivals hall.
