Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Cameroon eVisa at the official portal before you fly. Processing takes 72 hours — do not book non-refundable flights until approved. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Cameroon. Carry at least two blank visa pages for entry and exit stamps.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. Airlines at check-in may also request it.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Cameroon. Officers occasionally ask for it at the border.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card showing access to at least 200,000 CFA francs (about $330 USD) for your stay. Officers rarely ask, but it helps if questioned.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination required
You must show your yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) upon arrival. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport at your own expense.
eVisa is not a guarantee of entry
Having an approved eVisa does not guarantee entry. Immigration officers at the port of entry make the final decision. Always carry all required documents and be ready to answer questions about your trip.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Cameroon eVisa website (evisacameroon.com). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee online. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and save your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa document. Print a copy and also save a PDF on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and upon arrival in Cameroon.
3
Prepare your documents for departure
Before heading to the airport, gather: your passport (valid 6+ months), printed eVisa, return ticket, and first night accommodation confirmation. Keep them in your carry-on.
4
Arrive at Yaoundé or Douala airport
At immigration, present your passport and eVisa. The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation. Answer clearly. The process is usually quick — expect 5–10 minutes at the counter.
