Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Ghanaian passport needs to be valid only for the period you plan to stay in Togo. Airlines at Kotoka International Airport may ask to see it before boarding — they rarely enforce a 6-month rule for Togo, but carry a copy of your itinerary just in case.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Togo
Immigration officers at Lomé–Tokoin Airport routinely ask for a printed or digital onward ticket. If you arrive overland at Aflao or other border posts, they may wave you through without one, but having a bus or flight booking out of Togo avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Togo. Border officials rarely demand it, but if you look like you have no plan, they can pull you aside for extra questions.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to about 100,000 CFA (~$165 USD) per day of your stay. Officers almost never ask for it, but if you arrive without a return ticket or hotel, they may request proof you can cover your trip.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccination required
You must have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) to enter Togo. Without it, you may be vaccinated at the airport or denied entry. Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
Land border entry
If entering by land from Ghana, expect longer queues and more document checks. Keep your passport, yellow card, and return ticket easily accessible.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Lomé–Tokoin Airport (LFW)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration' or 'Passport Control'. There are separate queues for Togolese nationals and foreigners. Join the 'Foreigners' queue.
2
Present your passport and ticket
Hand over your passport and your return/onward ticket (printed or on your phone). The officer will check your passport validity and stamp you in. No visa is needed.
3
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. You're free to enter Togo.
