Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your Greek passport must be valid for the full duration of your stay in Cuba. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Cuban law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Cuban immigration strictly enforces the requirement for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or digital confirmation ready — they will check it before you board and at passport control.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel or casa booking
Have a confirmed hotel reservation or a letter from your casa particular (private homestay) ready. Immigration may ask for the address and contact details of where you are staying.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry evidence of sufficient funds — around 50 CUC (or equivalent in EUR/USD) per day is a safe benchmark. A recent bank statement or credit card works. Cash is widely used in Cuba, so bring enough euros or US dollars.Recommended
eVisa processing can take up to 30 days
Don't wait until the last minute. Apply at least a month before your trip to avoid delays.
Keep documents handy at immigration
At Havana airport, have your passport, eVisa approval, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. The process is straightforward but having everything in order speeds it up.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Cuban eVisa portal (if available) or contact the Cuban embassy in Athens. Fill out the form, upload a passport photo, and pay the fee. Processing takes 5–30 days.
2
Print or save your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll receive a PDF. Print a copy and save it on your phone. Immigration at Havana's José Martí International Airport will ask to see it.
3
Prepare your documents for arrival
At immigration, you'll present your passport, eVisa approval, return ticket, and first-night accommodation confirmation. Keep them together in a folder.
4
