Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Greek passport needs to be valid only for the period you plan to stay in Guatemala. Airlines may enforce a 6-month validity rule — check with your carrier before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Guatemala
Immigration officers at La Aurora Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter from your host. Officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Have bank statements or a credit card ready. Immigration may ask for proof of at least $500 USD or equivalent for your stay.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines check passport validity at check-in. If your passport expires within 6 months of your arrival date, you will be denied boarding. No exceptions.
No visa needed — but don't skip the return ticket
Immigration officers routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready. A screenshot on your phone is fine.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at La Aurora International Airport (GUA)
After landing, follow signs to 'Migración' (Immigration). There are separate queues for Guatemalan citizens and foreigners. Join the 'Extranjeros' line. Have your passport and return ticket ready.
2
Present documents to immigration officer
Hand over your passport. The officer will ask your purpose of visit (tourism is fine), how long you're staying, and may ask to see your return ticket. Answer briefly and politely.
3
Get your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry and the number of days granted (usually 90). Check the stamp before leaving the counter. If the number is wrong, ask for correction immediately.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There's a green channel (nothing to declare) and a red channel (goods to declare). Unless you're carrying expensive electronics or large amounts of cash, use the green channel.
