Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Greek passport needs to be valid only for the length of your stay in Hong Kong. Airlines sometimes enforce a 6-month validity rule — check with your carrier before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Hong Kong
Immigration officers routinely ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket at the border. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this at the counter before issuing entry.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a hotel reservation or a letter from your host in Hong Kong. Officers rarely ask for it, but having it avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Have access to enough cash or credit to cover your expenses. Immigration may ask for bank statements or a credit card — 500 HKD per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the date you enter Hong Kong. If it expires sooner, you will be denied entry. Check your passport now and renew if needed.
Keep your departure card stub
When you arrive, immigration will give you a departure card stub. Keep it inside your passport — you'll need to hand it in when you leave Hong Kong. Losing it can cause delays at departure.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Hong Kong International Airport
Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'Immigration'. There are separate queues for Hong Kong residents and visitors. Join the 'Visitors' queue.
2
Present your passport and boarding pass
Hand over your Greek passport and boarding pass. The officer may ask your purpose of visit, how long you're staying, and where you're staying. Answer clearly and briefly.
3
Provide onward ticket if asked
If the officer asks for proof of onward travel, show your return or onward ticket on your phone or printed copy. Keep it easily accessible.
4
Receive entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (usually 90 days). Check the stamp before leaving the counter.
5
Collect luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, collect your checked luggage from the carousel, then walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no dutiable goods.
