Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your departure date from Lithuania
Your Greek passport needs at least 3 months of validity after your planned exit from Lithuania. This is a Schengen-wide rule — border officers at Vilnius Airport check it. Airlines also verify this before boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Schengen area
Immigration at Vilnius Airport routinely asks for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Budget airlines like Ryanair and Wizz Air check this at check-in too. A bus or train ticket to a non-Schengen country works.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation, Airbnb booking, or a letter from a friend in Lithuania ready. They rarely check it for Greek passport holders, but it's smart to have it on your phone.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Officers can ask for bank statements or cash to prove you have at least €50 per day of your stay. In practice, they almost never ask Greek citizens, but carry a credit card and a recent bank statement just in case.Recommended
Schengen zone rules apply
Lithuania is part of the Schengen Area. Your 90-day visa-free stay counts across all Schengen countries combined, not just Lithuania. Keep track of your total days in the zone.
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Airlines often check passport validity at check-in. If your passport has less than 6 months remaining, you may be denied boarding even if you have a valid reason. Renew early.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents before departure
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry date). Book your return/onward ticket and first night accommodation. Save confirmations as screenshots or PDFs on your phone. Consider getting travel insurance and an eSIM.
2
Arrive at Vilnius Airport or Kaunas Airport
Most flights from Greece land at Vilnius Airport (VNO) or Kaunas Airport (KUN). Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then to 'Passport Control' (non-EU queue). Have your passport and any supporting documents ready.
3
Pass through passport control
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask about the purpose of your visit, how long you're staying, and where you're staying. Answer clearly and briefly. They may also ask to see your return ticket or accommodation confirmation. The process usually takes 1-2 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim (if you checked luggage), then walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no goods to declare. You're now free to enter Lithuania.
