Greek passport holders need an eVisa to enter Nigeria in 2026. The process is entirely online — you apply before you travel, receive approval by email, and present the printout at immigration in Lagos or Abuja.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Nigeria eVisa
Apply for your Nigeria eVisa at the Nigeria Immigration Service portal before you travel. The eVisa is a single-entry visa valid for up to 90 days. Processing takes 3–5 business days, so apply at least a week before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Greece passport
Your Greek passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Nigeria. Airlines and immigration officers enforce this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration at Lagos and Abuja airports always asks for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone. Without one, you risk being refused entry and put on the next flight out.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Have a hotel booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host ready. Immigration officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you're arriving without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Carry a bank statement showing at least $1,000 USD or the equivalent in Naira. Immigration may ask to see proof you can support yourself during your stay.Recommended
Yellow fever certificate required
You must show a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate at immigration. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (and pay a fine). Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
Keep your eVisa printout handy
You'll need the paper copy at check-in in Greece, on the plane (some airlines ask), and at Nigerian immigration. Don't rely on your phone alone — print it.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Nigeria Immigration Service portal (portal.immigration.gov.ng), create an account, fill in your details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page, and pay the visa fee (around $160–$200 depending on processing speed).
2
Receive approval by email
Processing takes 3–7 business days. You'll get an eVisa approval letter as a PDF. Print it — you'll need a paper copy to show at check-in and on arrival.
3
Check in for your flight
At the airport in Greece, the airline will ask to see your eVisa approval and your return ticket. Have both ready.
4
Arrive at a Nigerian airport
You'll land at Murtala Muhammed International Airport (LOS) in Lagos or Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport (ABV) in Abuja. Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and join the queue for 'Visitors / eVisa holders'.
5
Present documents at immigration
Hand over your passport, eVisa printout, return ticket (on your phone is fine), and accommodation confirmation. The officer may ask a few questions about your trip — answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport and you're in.
