Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for duration of stay
Your Greek passport only needs to be valid for the length of your stay in Serbia. Airlines may ask for 6 months validity — check with your carrier before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Serbia
Immigration officers at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready showing you leave within 90 days.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and contact details. Officers rarely ask, but having it avoids delays.Recommended
Proof of funds
Sufficient money for your stay
Have access to at least €50 per day of your stay — cash, card, or bank statement. Border officers almost never check this for Greek passport holders, but the law allows them to.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Serbian border officers check that your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your entry date. If it's even a day short, you'll be turned away. No exceptions.
Keep your entry stamp safe
Your entry stamp is your proof of legal entry. If you lose your passport or it gets stolen, you'll need that stamp to prove you entered legally. Take a photo of it.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at the border
At Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport or any land border crossing, join the queue for non-Serbian passports. Have your passport ready.
2
Hand over your passport
The officer will check your passport validity, look for a blank page, and may ask how long you're staying and where you're staying. Answer honestly.
3
Get your entry stamp
They'll stamp your passport with the entry date. That stamp starts your 90-day clock. Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it when you leave.
4
Collect your bags and go
Once stamped, you're free to enter. No additional forms or fees. Head to baggage claim and then customs.

Frequently asked questions

No, the 90-day visa-free stay is not extendable. You must leave Serbia before day 90. Overstaying can result in fines, a ban, or both. If you need to stay longer, you'd need to apply for a temporary residence permit before your 90 days are up — contact the nearest police station for foreigners in Serbia.
Overstaying is taken seriously. You'll likely be fined (around 5,000–50,000 RSD, roughly €40–€425 depending on the duration), and you may be banned from re-entering Serbia for up to 12 months. In extreme cases, you could be deported. Don't risk it.
No, not anymore. Serbia abolished the mandatory registration requirement for EU citizens in 2023. Just show your passport at the border and you're done.
Yes, all land borders are open for Greek passport holders. You'll go through the same visa-free process. Just have your passport ready. Note that some land crossings can have long queues in summer — bring water and patience.
It's not required for entry, but it's a very good idea. Serbian hospitals expect payment upfront for treatment, and a simple emergency room visit can cost €200–€500. A good travel insurance policy costs less than €20 for a week and covers that.
You will be denied entry. Serbian border officers strictly enforce the 6-month validity rule. Renew your passport before you travel. If you're in a hurry, check for emergency passport appointments at the Greek passport office.
The 90-day visa-free stay is for tourism, business visits, and short stays — not for remote work. Technically, working remotely for a foreign employer is in a grey area, but it's rarely enforced for short stays. If you plan to work for more than a few weeks, consider Serbia's digital nomad visa (valid up to 6 months).
