Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must cover entire stay in Tuvalu
Your Greek passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Tuvalu. Immigration officers check this at Funafuti International Airport — if your passport expires before you leave, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Tuvalu
You need a confirmed onward ticket showing you leave Tuvalu within 90 days. Airlines check this at check-in — without it, you won't board. Immigration at Funafuti also asks for it on arrival.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Have a printed hotel booking or a letter from your host in Tuvalu. Immigration may ask where you're staying — having it ready avoids delays at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry a bank statement or credit card showing you have enough money for your stay. Immigration officers rarely ask, but having it ready covers you if they do.Recommended
No visa needed, but plan ahead
Tuvalu is remote and flights are limited. Book your return ticket and accommodation well in advance. The immigration process is straightforward, but having all documents ready avoids delays.
Medical facilities are basic
Funafuti has a small hospital with limited equipment. For serious issues, evacuation to Fiji or New Zealand is needed. Travel insurance with medical evacuation coverage is strongly recommended.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Funafuti International Airport
You'll land at the only international airport, on Funafuti atoll. After deplaning, walk to the immigration hall. There's usually one queue for all passengers.
2
Present your documents to the immigration officer
Hand over your passport and completed arrival card (given on the plane). The officer may ask for your return ticket and accommodation details. Answer clearly and politely.
3
Get your passport stamped
The officer will stamp your passport with a visa-free entry valid for up to 90 days. Check the stamp says the correct duration. Then collect your luggage from the carousel.
