Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Hong Kong passport needs to be valid for at least the full 30 days you plan to stay in Belarus. No minimum six-month validity is required, but airlines may still ask for it — check with your carrier before departure.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Belarus
Immigration officers at Minsk National Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your outbound booking ready — they check this before stamping you in.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Border officers may ask where you're staying. A hotel confirmation or a notarized invitation from a Belarusian host (if staying privately) covers this. Keep a copy on your phone or printed.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Belarus can ask for proof of financial means — roughly €50 per day of stay. A bank statement or credit card showing available balance works. Officers rarely check this for short stays, but have it ready.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. Airlines check this before boarding. If your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding, even if you have a return ticket.
Registration after 5 days
If you stay more than 5 days, you must register with the local migration office. Hotels handle this automatically. If staying in a private apartment, you must register in person within 5 days of arrival. Fines for non-compliance can be up to 50 BYN (about $20 USD).

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Minsk National Airport (MSQ) or land border
Most travellers fly into Minsk National Airport. At immigration, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will check your passport validity, stamp you in, and you're done. The whole process usually takes 5-10 minutes.
2
Complete arrival formalities
After the passport check, collect your luggage (if any) and proceed through customs. There's usually nothing to declare for personal items. Keep your boarding pass and passport handy.
3
Register your stay (if staying more than 5 days)
If you're staying longer than 5 days, you must register with the local migration office within 5 days of arrival. Hotels do this for you automatically. If staying in a private apartment, you need to do it yourself at the nearest migration office. Failure to register can result in a fine of up to 50 BYN (about $20 USD).
