Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for entire stay
Your Hong Kong passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Luxembourg. Schengen rules do not require 6 months beyond departure, but some airlines may enforce it — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Schengen zone
Immigration at Luxembourg airport will ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen area within 90 days. Have a printed or digital copy ready — they check this consistently.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a signed letter from your host in Luxembourg. Border officers rarely ask, but having it ready avoids delays if they do.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or cash showing you can cover your stay — roughly €65 per day is the informal benchmark. Officers rarely request it, but it's a standard Schengen requirement.Recommended
Schengen Area rules apply
Luxembourg is part of the Schengen Area. Your 90-day visa-free limit applies across all 27 Schengen countries combined, not just Luxembourg. Keep track of your days using the Schengen calculator.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Luxembourg, not from the day you leave. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before your trip.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Luxembourg Airport (LUX)
You'll land at Findel Airport, about 6 km east of Luxembourg City. Follow signs to 'Arrivals' and then 'EU/EEA/Swiss Passport Control' — Hong Kong passport holders use the non-EU line.
2
Queue at passport control
Wait in the line for non-EU/EEA travellers. Have your passport, return ticket (screenshot or printed), and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer will check your passport, ask your purpose of visit and length of stay, then stamp you in.
3
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, head to the baggage claim carousel. Once you have your bags, walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no goods to declare. You're now in Luxembourg.
