What happens at the border

1
Prepare your documents
Before you fly, check your passport validity (6 months) and blank pages (at least 1). Have your return ticket and proof of funds ready, just in case. If you have a yellow fever certificate, keep it with your passport.
2
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport (or other entry point)
Most travellers fly into Entebbe, near Kampala. Follow the signs to immigration. There may be separate queues for citizens and foreigners — join the foreigners queue.
3
Present your passport and answer questions
Hand over your passport and any requested documents. The officer may ask about your purpose of visit, where you're staying, and how long you plan to stay. Answer clearly and confidently.
4
Receive your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (90 days). Check the stamp to make sure the dates are correct before you leave the counter.
5
Proceed to baggage claim and customs
After immigration, collect your bags and pass through customs. Declare any items if required. Then you're free to enter Uganda.

You'll likely be denied entry. Ugandan immigration requires your passport to be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. If your passport is close to expiry, renew it before you travel.
It's required if you're arriving from a country with yellow fever risk. Even if you're coming directly from Hong Kong (which is not a risk country), it's strongly recommended to get vaccinated because Uganda itself has yellow fever. You may be asked for the certificate at entry, and it's better to have it.
It's not always asked, but immigration officers can request proof of onward travel. Have your return ticket or a ticket to another destination ready to show if asked. It's a common requirement for visa-free entries.
There's no official minimum amount published, but you should have enough to cover your stay. A credit card and some cash (or a bank statement) usually suffices. It's rarely checked, but be prepared.
