Bulgaria entry requirements for Croatia passport holders
Croatian passport holders can enter Bulgaria without a visa for short stays. As of 2026, you can stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period. Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Valid passport Must be valid for the duration of your stay | Your Croatian passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Bulgaria. Bulgaria does not enforce the 6-month validity rule for EU nationals — just make sure it doesn't expire before you leave. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Proof of departure from Bulgaria | Immigration officers at Sofia Airport and land borders routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight, bus, or train booking out of Bulgaria ready. | Recommended |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or host invitation | Keep a copy of your hotel reservation, Airbnb confirmation, or a letter from your host. Border officers rarely ask for it for EU citizens, but having it ready avoids delays. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Show you can support yourself | Carry a bank statement or credit card showing you have enough money for your stay. Bulgaria does not publish a fixed minimum amount, but around 50 BGN (~25 EUR) per day is a safe benchmark. | Recommended |
