What happens at the border

1
Complete Check-Mig Online
Up to 72 hours before your flight, go to migracioncolombia.gov.co and fill in your personal details, flight info, and accommodation address. You'll get a QR code — save it as a screenshot or print it.
2
Arrive at Immigration
At Bogotá El Dorado or any other airport, follow signs to 'Extranjeros' (Foreigners). Have your passport, return ticket (screenshot is fine), and Check-Mig QR code ready. The officer will stamp your passport with up to 90 days.
3

Frequently asked questions

No, the visa-free stay is not extendable. You must leave Colombia within 90 days. If you want to stay longer, you'd need to apply for a different visa type (e.g., a visitor visa) before traveling, or leave and re-enter after a short period — but re-entry rules can be strict, so check with Colombian immigration.
Overstaying can result in a fine (around 2-3 USD per day overstayed) and a stamp in your passport. Serious overstays may lead to a ban from re-entering Colombia for a period. It's best to leave on time.
Not required for Croatian passport holders arriving directly from Europe. However, if you've recently been in a country with yellow fever (e.g., Brazil, parts of Africa), you may need proof of vaccination. It's recommended anyway if you plan to visit the Amazon region.
Yes, the same 90-day visa-free rule applies at land borders. You'll go through immigration at the border crossing — have your passport, return ticket, and Check-Mig form ready. The Check-Mig form is also required for land entry.
Yes, it's mandatory for all travelers entering Colombia by air or land. Without it, you may be denied boarding or entry. It's free and takes about 10 minutes to complete. Do it within 72 hours before your arrival.
You will likely be denied boarding by the airline or entry by Colombian immigration. Renew your passport before traveling. The 6-month validity is strictly enforced.
Not typically for Croatian passport holders. Immigration officers rarely ask for bank statements or cash. But if you look like you might be working illegally or overstaying, they could ask. Having a return ticket and accommodation address is usually enough.
