Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Croatian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Cuba. Apply at Cuba's Ministry of Foreign Affairs portal — processing takes 5–10 business days. Print the approval email and carry a copy with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must cover your entire stay
Your passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your stay in Cuba. No minimum validity beyond departure is required by Cuban law, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Cuban immigration officers always ask for proof of onward travel at the border. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready — they check this before stamping you in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended to carry
Immigration may ask where you're staying — have a hotel booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host. Print it out; phone screens can be unreliable at the counter.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended to carry
You're not required to show a specific amount, but having cash or a card with available credit helps if asked. Cuba's cash economy means bring enough euros or USD to cover your trip — cards from US banks don't work.Recommended
Apply early — no visa on arrival
Cuba does not offer visa on arrival for Croatian passport holders. You must have an approved eVisa before you board your flight. Processing can take up to a week, so don't leave it to the last minute.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Cuba, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa
Go to the official Cuban eVisa website and fill out the application. You'll need your passport details, travel dates, and accommodation info. Pay the fee online. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, but can be longer — apply at least a week before your flight.
2
Prepare your documents
Print or save digital copies of your approved eVisa, passport, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation. Keep them in a folder on your phone and a physical copy in your carry-on.
3
At the airport in Croatia
When checking in for your flight to Cuba, the airline will ask to see your eVisa approval and return ticket. Have them ready. They may also check your passport validity.
4
Arrival at Havana Airport (HAV)
After landing, follow signs to immigration. Present your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket. The officer may ask where you're staying — have the address ready. They'll stamp your passport and you're in.
5
Exit immigration
After the stamp, collect your luggage and proceed to customs. There's usually a quick bag scan. You're free to go after that.
