Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Croatian passport needs to be valid only for the period you plan to stay in Moldova. Airlines might ask for 6 months validity, but Moldovan immigration does not enforce that rule.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Moldova
Immigration officers at Chișinău Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Border officers may ask where you're staying. Have a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Carry bank statements or a credit card showing you have enough money for your stay. Moldova does not publish a fixed minimum amount, but €50 per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Moldovan border officers check that your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. If it's close to expiring, renew it before you go.
Overstaying can get you fined or banned
The 90-day limit is per 180-day period. Overstaying even by a day can result in a fine (400–800 MDL) and possible entry ban. Track your days carefully.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Chișinău International Airport (or land border)
Most travellers fly into Chișinău International Airport (KIV). At passport control, join the 'All Passports' queue. Have your passport ready. The officer will check your passport validity, may ask about your stay duration and purpose, and will stamp your passport. The process usually takes 2–5 minutes.
2
Present your documents if asked
While not always required, be ready to show your return ticket and accommodation booking if the officer asks. Keep them on your phone or printed. If you have travel insurance, mention it if asked.
3
Receive entry stamp and proceed
Once stamped, you're free to enter. The stamp shows your entry date and the maximum stay allowed (90 days). Keep your passport safe — you'll need it for hotel check-ins and any police checks.
