Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply for a Russian eVisa
Apply for your Russian eVisa at the official eVisa portal. The eVisa allows a single entry for up to 16 days. Processing takes up to 4 calendar days. Print the eVisa approval and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Croatian passport must be valid for the entire period you intend to stay in Russia. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by Russian law, but airlines may enforce a 6-month validity rule — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Russia
Immigration officers at Russian airports routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy ready. The ticket must show you leave Russia before your eVisa expires (16 days from entry).Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Russian border officials may ask for proof of where you're staying. A hotel booking confirmation or a notarized invitation letter from a host works. Keep a printed copy in your carry-on.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can cover your stay
Immigration can request evidence of sufficient funds. A bank statement or credit card showing at least 500 USD equivalent per day of stay is the informal benchmark. Have a recent statement accessible on your phone or printed.Recommended
eVisa is single entry only
You cannot leave Russia and re-enter on the same eVisa. If you plan to visit neighboring countries and come back, you'll need a different visa.
Keep your registration slip
If you stay more than 7 days, the registration slip from your hotel or host is important. You may be asked for it when leaving Russia. Keep it with your passport.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa
Go to the official Russian eVisa website (evisa.kdmid.ru). Fill in the application form, upload a passport-style photo, and pay the fee (if any). Processing usually takes 4 calendar days. You'll receive the eVisa by email as a PDF.
2
Book your travel and accommodation
Book a return flight and your first night's accommodation. Keep the confirmations handy — you'll need them for the application and at the border.
3
Arrive at the airport in Russia
At passport control, present your passport and the eVisa (printed or on your phone). The officer will scan the QR code and stamp your passport. You'll be allowed to stay up to 16 days.
4
Register your stay (if staying more than 7 days)
If you're staying longer than 7 days, your hotel or host must register you with the local migration office within 7 days of arrival. If you're in a private apartment, the host handles this. Keep the registration slip — you may need it when leaving.
