Immigration officers at Kyiv Boryspil and other entry points may ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready to show.Recommended

Border officials sometimes request a hotel booking or invitation letter from a host. Keep a printed confirmation or digital copy on your phone.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended for visa-free entry
You may be asked to show you have enough money for your stay. Have a bank statement or credit card ready — there is no fixed minimum amount, but around $50 USD per day is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Martial law and travel restrictions
Ukraine is under martial law due to the ongoing war. Some regions (e.g., Donetsk, Luhansk, Crimea, parts of Zaporizhzhia and Kherson) are closed to foreigners without special permits. Check the Ukrainian State Border Guard Service website for current restricted areas before planning your trip.
eSIM and connectivity
Buy an Airalo eSIM before you travel — it activates the moment you land. No need to queue at Kyiv Boryspil for a physical SIM. Local providers like Kyivstar and Vodafone also sell prepaid SIMs at airports and shops.
Visa-free entry confirmed
Croatian passport holders can enter Ukraine without a visa for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. No eVisa, no invitation letter, no registration needed for stays under 30 days. Just a valid passport and a return ticket.

What happens at the border

1
Prepare documents before travel
Check your passport validity (6+ months from entry), print or save your return ticket, hotel booking, and insurance. Download an eSIM or buy a local SIM at the airport.
2
Arrive at Ukrainian border
At Kyiv Boryspil, Lviv, or any land border crossing, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport and boarding pass ready. No visa form to fill.
3
Passport control interview
Hand over your passport. The officer may ask: purpose of visit, length of stay, where you're staying, and return date. Answer briefly and honestly. They'll stamp your passport with the entry date.
4
Receive entry stamp
The stamp shows the date of entry. Your 90-day clock starts that day. Keep the stamp visible — you'll need it when leaving.
5
Exit Ukraine before 90 days
Leave Ukraine before your 90 days are up. Overstaying can result in fines (around 500–1700 UAH) and a ban from re-entry. No extensions are possible for visa-free stays.
