Croatian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Uganda. You apply online before you travel, and the process is straightforward. As of 2026, the eVisa is the standard way to get permission to enter.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Uganda eVisa at visas.immigration.go.ug at least 2 weeks before departure. The single-entry tourist visa costs $50 USD and is valid for 90 days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Entebbe will stamp the visa on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6+ months validity
Your Croatian passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your entry date into Uganda. Airlines at Zagreb and connecting hubs check this before boarding — no exceptions.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration officers at Entebbe International Airport always ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or a ticket to your next destination ready.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter of invitation from your host in Uganda. Immigration may ask for it, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked tour.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support your stay
Have bank statements or a credit card showing access to at least $300 USD for your trip. Officers rarely check this for short visits, but it helps if questioned.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Uganda, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa approval, passport bio page, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation as PDFs on your phone. Also print paper copies — phone batteries die, and some border posts have limited charging.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Uganda eVisa portal (visas.immigration.go.ug). Fill in the application, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 for a single-entry tourist visa) with a credit card. Processing usually takes 2–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get a PDF via email. Print a copy and save it on your phone. You'll show this at the border.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport (or land border)
At Entebbe, follow signs to 'Visa/Immigration'. Join the queue for 'eVisa holders'. Hand over your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. Expect a short wait — 15–30 minutes is typical.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. Then proceed to customs (usually a quick bag scan). You're free to enter Uganda.

Frequently asked questions

Typically 2–5 business days. Apply at least a week before your trip to be safe. Rush processing isn't always available.
A single-entry tourist eVisa costs around $50 USD. You pay online with a credit card during the application.
Yes, you can apply for an extension at the Immigration Office in Kampala (Plot 1 Jinja Road). Extensions are granted in 1–3 month increments. The cost is around $50–$100 depending on duration. Start the process before your current visa expires.
Yes, Uganda requires proof of yellow fever vaccination if you're arriving from a country with yellow fever risk. Croatia is not a risk country, but if you've traveled to any endemic area recently, you'll need the certificate. Even if not, it's strongly recommended — border officials sometimes ask.
Land borders (like Busia or Malaba from Kenya, or Katuna from Rwanda) also accept eVisa approvals. The process is similar — show your passport, eVisa, and onward ticket. Wait times can be longer at busy crossings.
Technically yes, but it's not recommended. Visa on arrival is more expensive ($100 vs $50), requires cash (USD), and can involve long queues. The eVisa is cheaper and faster.
Rejections are rare for straightforward tourist applications. Common reasons: blurry photo, incorrect passport details, or insufficient funds proof. You can reapply with corrected info. If rejected, you'll get a refund minus a small processing fee.
