Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you land in Uganda, not from your departure date. If your passport expires sooner, renew it before applying for the eVisa.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa approval, passport bio page, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation as PDFs on your phone. Also print paper copies — phone batteries die, and some border posts have limited charging.

Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the official Uganda eVisa portal (visas.immigration.go.ug). Fill in the application, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around $50 for a single-entry tourist visa) with a credit card. Processing usually takes 2–5 business days.

Receive and print your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get a PDF via email. Print a copy and save it on your phone. You'll show this at the border.

Arrive at Entebbe International Airport (or land border)
At Entebbe, follow signs to 'Visa/Immigration'. Join the queue for 'eVisa holders'. Hand over your passport, eVisa approval, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in. Expect a short wait — 15–30 minutes is typical.

Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, collect your bags from the carousel. Then proceed to customs (usually a quick bag scan). You're free to enter Uganda.
