Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Hungarian passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Barbados. Immigration officers at Grantley Adams International Airport check this at the desk — they do not enforce a 6-month validity rule for Hungarian nationals.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Barbados
Immigration officers routinely ask for proof of a return or onward flight within 90 days. Budget carriers like Caribbean Airlines and interCaribbean check this at check-in too. Have a printed or digital copy ready.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Barbados immigration sometimes asks where you are staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel. Have a booking confirmation or a letter from your host with their address and phone number.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Immigration officers may ask how you plan to fund your trip. Carry a bank statement or credit card showing access to at least 100 USD per day of your stay. Cash is not required — a card works fine.Recommended
No visa needed, but be prepared
You don't need a visa, but immigration can still deny entry if they suspect you'll overstay or work illegally. Have your return ticket and accommodation details ready.
Passport validity is strict
The 6-month validity rule is enforced. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be turned away at the gate or at immigration.

What happens at the border

1
Arrival at Grantley Adams International Airport (BGI)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration'. There are separate queues for citizens and visitors. Join the 'Visitors' line. Have your passport and return ticket ready. The officer will stamp your passport and usually ask how long you're staying. Answer honestly. The whole process takes 5–15 minutes.
2
Baggage claim and customs
After immigration, collect your luggage from the carousel. Then proceed to customs. There's a green channel for nothing to declare and a red channel for goods over the duty-free limit. If you're just bringing personal items, go green.
3
Exit the airport
Once through customs, you're free to leave. Taxis are available outside the arrivals hall. The ride to Bridgetown takes about 20 minutes.
