Hungarian passport holders can visit Belarus visa-free for up to 30 days, a policy effective since 2025 for tourism and business. Ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months from your entry date.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your Hungarian passport needs to be valid for the entire time you plan to be in Belarus. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required, but airlines sometimes enforce 6 months — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Belarus
Immigration officers at Minsk National Airport routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or a screenshot ready on your phone showing your departure flight within the 30-day visa-free window.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Border officials may ask where you're staying. A hotel confirmation email or a letter from a host in Belarus (with their registration at the local migration office) covers this. Keep a copy on your phone.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Officers occasionally ask for evidence of sufficient money for your stay. A bank statement or credit card showing access to at least €50 per day is enough. I've never been asked for this, but it's smart to have it.Recommended
Keep your departure card safe
The departure portion of the arrival card is essential for leaving Belarus. Lose it, and you'll face delays and a fine at the border. Keep it with your passport at all times.
Registration after 5 days
If you're staying longer than 5 days, your accommodation provider must register you with local authorities. If you're in a private rental, remind your host. You'll get a registration slip — don't lose it.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Minsk National Airport (MSQ)
After landing, follow signs to 'Passport Control'. There are separate queues for Belarusian citizens and foreigners. Join the 'Foreign Passports' line. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready.
2
Fill out the arrival card
You'll receive a small white arrival card on the plane or at the immigration counter. Fill it out in block capitals. Keep the departure portion with your passport — you'll need to hand it back when leaving.
3
Present documents to the officer
Hand over your passport, arrival card, and any requested documents. The officer may ask a few questions (purpose of visit, where you're staying). Answer clearly. They'll stamp your passport and return the departure card.
4
Collect luggage and exit
After passport control, proceed to baggage claim. Then walk through the green 'Nothing to Declare' channel if you have no goods to declare. Customs officers may randomly check bags.
