Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of your stay
Your passport needs to be valid for at least the full 30 days you plan to stay in Belarus. Airlines at Jakarta and Denpasar may ask to see your passport before boarding — they check validity against your travel dates, not a 6-month rule.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Belarus
Immigration officers at Minsk National Airport routinely ask for a printed or digital onward ticket showing you leave within 30 days. Airlines also check this before issuing a boarding pass — have it ready on your phone or as a printout.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Border officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked hotel. A printed booking confirmation or a letter from a host in Belarus covers this — keep a copy handy.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during your stay
Officers can request evidence of financial means — roughly €50 per day is the informal benchmark. A recent bank statement or a credit card with available limit usually satisfies them.Recommended
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Belarus, not from when you book your flight. If your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied entry.
Overstaying is not worth it
The 30-day visa-free period is strict and not extendable. Overstaying even by a day can result in a fine and potential entry ban. Set a reminder to leave on time.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Belarusian border control
At Minsk National Airport (MSQ) or any land border crossing, join the 'Foreign Passports' queue. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer will check your passport validity, stamp you in, and hand it back. The whole process usually takes 2-5 minutes.
2
Complete migration card (if required)
Some border crossings still issue a small paper migration card. Fill it out with your name, passport number, flight number, and address in Belarus. Keep the departure portion with your passport — you'll hand it back when you leave.
3
Exit Belarus within 30 days
Count your days from the entry stamp. Overstaying even by a day can result in a fine (around 50-100 BYN) and a mark on your record. If you need to stay longer, you must apply for an extension before your 30 days are up.
