Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Gabon eVisa at evisa.gouv.ga at least 7 days before departure. The eVisa is valid for single entry and covers stays up to 90 days. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Libreville Airport will stamp you in.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Indonesian passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Gabon. Gabon enforces this strictly — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding in Jakarta or refused entry at Libreville.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of onward travel
Immigration at Libreville Airport will ask for a return or onward ticket before they let you through. Have a printed copy or a screenshot of your booking ready. Airlines also check this at check-in in Indonesia.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a printed hotel reservation or an invitation letter from your host in Gabon. Immigration officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. A simple booking confirmation from Booking.com or Agoda works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have a bank statement or cash equivalent to at least 200,000 CFA francs (~$330 USD) per person for your stay. Gabon is not a cheap country — hotels and taxis cost more than in most of West Africa. Immigration may ask to see proof of funds if you look underprepared.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You must have a valid yellow fever vaccination certificate (yellow card) to enter Gabon. Without it, you may be vaccinated at the airport or denied entry. Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
eVisa is required before boarding
Airlines will check for your eVisa before issuing a boarding pass. Do not rely on getting one at the airport — it's not possible. Apply early and carry a printed copy.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.ga, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (typically €70–€100 depending on processing speed). Submit and wait for approval — processing can take 3–7 business days.
2
Receive eVisa approval
You'll get an email with your eVisa document. Print a paper copy and also save the PDF on your phone. Without this, you won't be allowed to board your flight to Gabon.
3
Arrival at Libreville International Airport (LBV)
After landing, proceed to immigration. Present your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation. The officer will stamp you in. The whole process usually takes 15–30 minutes if you have all documents ready.

Frequently asked questions

Standard processing takes 3–7 business days. There is sometimes an express option for a higher fee. Apply at least 2 weeks before your trip to be safe.
The eVisa does not appear to be extendable. If you need to stay longer, you would need to leave and re-enter with a new eVisa, or contact the Gabonese immigration office in Libreville before your current visa expires.
You will be denied entry and sent back on the next flight. There is no visa-on-arrival for Indonesian passport holders. Do not travel without an approved eVisa.
Yes, Gabon requires a yellow fever vaccination certificate for all travellers over 1 year old. You must show the certificate (the 'yellow card') upon arrival. Without it, you may be vaccinated at the airport or denied entry.
The currency is the Central African CFA franc (XAF). Credit cards are accepted in major hotels and some restaurants in Libreville, but cash is king everywhere else. Bring euros or US dollars to exchange, or withdraw from ATMs (which are limited outside the capital).
Gabon is generally safe for tourists, but petty crime like pickpocketing and bag snatching occurs in crowded areas, especially in Libreville. Avoid walking alone at night and keep valuables out of sight. Political demonstrations can happen — avoid large gatherings.
If you are transiting and not leaving the international transit area, you generally do not need a visa. However, if you need to clear immigration (e.g., to switch terminals or stay overnight), you will need an eVisa. Check with your airline before booking.
