Indonesian passport holders need an eVisa to enter Nigeria. It's a single-entry permit you apply for online before traveling. As of 2026, the process is straightforward, but you must have your approval letter printed before boarding your flight.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Nigeria eVisa
Apply for your Nigeria eVisa at the Nigeria Immigration Service portal before you fly. The online form asks for your passport details, travel dates, and a recent photo. Processing usually takes 3-5 business days, and you'll receive an approval letter by email — print it and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for 6 months beyond your stay
Your Indonesian passport needs at least 6 months of validity from your date of entry into Nigeria. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you'll be denied boarding. Carry a copy of your passport data page separately.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Nigeria
Immigration officers at Lagos and Abuja ask for a confirmed onward or return ticket. Without one, you risk being refused entry and put on the next flight out. Book a refundable ticket or use a rental service if your plans are flexible.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation letter
Have a hotel confirmation or a letter of invitation from your host in Nigeria ready. Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you're arriving without a pre-booked hotel. A simple booking printout or a signed letter with your host's address works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Carry a recent bank statement showing at least $500 USD equivalent, or have cash in USD or Naira. Immigration rarely asks, but if they do, you need to show you can cover your stay. ATMs in Nigeria dispense Naira, but exchange rates at the airport are poor.Recommended
eVisa must be approved before you fly
Do not book a non-refundable flight until your eVisa is approved. Airlines check for valid visas at check-in, and you'll be denied boarding without one.
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
Nigeria requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for all arrivals. Get the vaccine at least 10 days before travel and carry your yellow card.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Nigeria Immigration Service portal (portal.immigration.gov.ng), create an account, fill in the application form, upload a passport photo and your passport data page, and pay the visa fee online. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days.
2
Receive and print your eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get an email with your eVisa approval letter. Print it in colour if possible. You'll need to show this at check-in and at immigration in Nigeria.
3
Pack your supporting documents
Carry your printed eVisa letter, passport, return ticket, hotel booking, and travel insurance documents together in a folder. Keep a digital backup on your phone.
4
Arrive at a Nigerian airport
At Lagos (LOS) or Abuja (ABV) airport, proceed to the immigration counter. Present your passport, eVisa letter, and return ticket. The officer will stamp your passport and let you through. The whole process usually takes 10–20 minutes.
