Must cover entire stay
Your passport must be valid for at least the duration of your stay in Romania. Airlines may enforce a 6-month validity rule, so check with your carrier before flying.Required

Recommended to carry
Hotel booking confirmation, rental agreement, or an invitation letter from your host in Romania. Officers may ask for this at passport control.Recommended

Apply early — no shortcuts
Romania does not offer visa on arrival or visa-free entry for Indonesian passport holders. The online application is the only route, and processing takes 2–3 weeks. Don't book non-refundable flights until you have the visa in hand.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for 6 months after the day you arrive in Romania, not after your departure date. If your passport expires in less than 6 months from your arrival, renew it before applying.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the visa online
Go to the Romanian e-Visa portal (evisa.mae.ro/en), create an account, fill in the application form, upload required documents (passport scan, photo, travel itinerary, insurance, accommodation proof), and pay the fee. Processing takes 10–15 business days.
2
Receive visa decision and sticker
Once approved, you'll get a notification. Depending on the consulate, you may need to mail your passport or visit in person to have the visa sticker affixed. Check the instructions in your approval email.
3
Arrive at Romanian border control
At Bucharest Otopeni (OTP) or any other entry point, join the queue for non-EU passports. Hand over your passport with the visa sticker, boarding pass, and be ready to show your return ticket and accommodation booking. The officer will stamp you in.
