Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Uganda eVisa at visas.immigration.go.ug at least 2 weeks before departure. The single-entry tourist eVisa costs $50 USD and is valid for 90 days from issue. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport — immigration at Entebbe will stamp the visa sticker on arrival.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must have 6+ months validity
Your Indonesian passport needs at least 6 months of remaining validity from your entry date into Uganda. Airlines check this before boarding — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required for entry
Immigration at Entebbe Airport will ask for proof of a return or onward flight out of Uganda. Have a printed or digital copy of your ticket ready — they check this before stamping your passport.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or a letter from your host in Uganda. Immigration officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support your stay
Have bank statements or cash equivalent to at least $200 USD per day of your stay. Immigration may ask to see proof of sufficient funds, though it is not always checked.Recommended
eVisa must be approved before travel
Do not book non-refundable flights or accommodation until your eVisa is approved. Processing delays can happen, and you cannot enter Uganda without the approval.
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
You will be asked for your yellow fever vaccination certificate at Entebbe airport. Without it, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated on the spot (and possibly quarantined). Get the shot at least 10 days before departure.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for eVisa online
Go to the official Uganda eVisa portal (visas.immigration.go.ug). Fill in your personal details, passport info, travel dates, and accommodation. Upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (typically around $50 USD for a single-entry tourist visa) with a credit card. Processing usually takes 2–5 business days, but can take longer during peak times.
2
Receive and print eVisa approval
Once approved, you'll get a PDF via email. Print a copy and also save it on your phone. You'll need to show it at check-in and upon arrival in Uganda.
3
Arrive at Entebbe International Airport
After landing, follow signs to immigration. Have your passport, eVisa approval, return ticket, and accommodation booking ready. The officer will stamp your passport and let you through. The whole process usually takes 15–30 minutes if your documents are in order.
