Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for the duration of stay
Your Irish passport must be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Saint Lucia. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required, but airlines may check for at least 6 months validity — confirm with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from Saint Lucia
Immigration officers at Hewanorra and George F. L. Charles airports routinely ask for a confirmed return or onward ticket. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready to show.Recommended
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a copy of your hotel reservation, hostel booking, or a letter of invitation from your host. Officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you arrive without a pre-booked address.Recommended
Proof of funds
Evidence of sufficient money for your stay
Be ready to show cash, credit cards, or bank statements covering your expenses. There is no fixed minimum amount, but having at least $100 USD per day of stay is a safe benchmark.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Saint Lucia requires your passport to be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry. If it's close to expiring, renew it before you book anything. You will be turned away at the airport.
No visa, but don't skip the paperwork
Even though you don't need a visa, immigration will ask for a return ticket and accommodation proof. Have them ready on your phone or printed. It's a quick check, but missing documents can delay you or cause denial.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Hewanorra or George F.L. Charles Airport
You'll land at Hewanorra International Airport (UVF) near Vieux Fort, or the smaller George F.L. Charles Airport (SLU) in Castries. Both have immigration halls. Join the queue for non-citizens.
2
Present your documents to immigration
Hand over your passport, return ticket (printed or on your phone), and accommodation confirmation. The officer will ask your purpose of visit and how long you're staying. Answer clearly.
3
Get your entry stamp
The officer will stamp your passport with the date of entry and the allowed stay (usually 42 days). Check the stamp before you walk away — if it's wrong, ask them to correct it immediately.
4
Collect luggage and proceed to customs
After immigration, grab your bags from the carousel, then walk through customs. If you have nothing to declare, use the green channel. You're free to go.
