Norway entry requirements for Ireland passport holders
Irish passport holders can visit Norway visa-free for up to 90 days in any 180-day period. This policy has been in place for 2026 and remains unchanged. You don't need to apply for anything before you travel, but you must meet entry requirements at the border.
Entry requirements
| Requirement | Details | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Valid passport Must be valid for entire stay in Norway | Your Irish passport needs to be valid for the full duration of your trip. Norway follows Schengen rules — you can stay up to 90 days within any 180-day period across the entire Schengen zone, not just Norway. | Required |
| Return or onward ticket Proof of departure from Schengen area | Immigration officers at Oslo Gardermoen and other Norwegian airports routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you'll leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Have a printed or digital copy ready. | Required |
| Proof of accommodation Hotel booking or host invitation | Carry a hotel confirmation, Airbnb booking, or a letter from your host with their address and contact details. Border officers occasionally ask for this, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary. | Recommended |
| Proof of funds Sufficient means for your stay | Have a bank statement or credit card showing you can cover your expenses — around 500 NOK per day is a safe benchmark. I've never been asked for this entering Norway, but it's in the rulebook. | Recommended |
