Israeli passport holders need an eVisa to enter Gabon. The process is entirely online — no embassy visit required. As of 2026, the eVisa is the standard entry method for tourism and short business trips.

Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
Apply for a Gabon eVisa at evisa.gouv.ga before departure. The process takes 3–5 business days — do not book flights until approved. Print the approval letter and carry it with your passport.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
6 months validity required
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended departure date from Gabon. Airlines at Ben Gurion Airport will check this before boarding.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration at Libreville International Airport asks for a return or onward ticket. Have a printed copy or show it on your phone — they check this before stamping you in.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or invitation letter
Carry a printed hotel reservation or an invitation letter from your host in Gabon. Officers occasionally ask for it, especially if you arrive without a clear itinerary.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself
Have bank statements or a credit card showing access to at least 200,000 XAF (about $330) per day of your stay. Officers rarely ask, but it helps if you look underprepared.Recommended
Yellow fever vaccine is mandatory
Gabon strictly enforces the yellow fever vaccination requirement. If you arrive without the yellow card, you may be denied entry or forced to get vaccinated at the airport (which costs time and money). Get the shot at least 10 days before travel.
eVisa is tied to your passport number
If you renew your passport after getting the eVisa, the approval becomes invalid. You'll need to reapply with the new passport details. Double-check your passport expiry before starting the application.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to evisa.gouv.ga, fill in your personal and passport details, upload a passport-style photo and a scan of your passport bio page. Pay the fee (around €70-100 depending on processing speed). You'll receive the approved eVisa by email within 3-7 business days.
2
Print your eVisa and pack supporting documents
Print a paper copy of the eVisa approval email. Also print or save to your phone: your return ticket, hotel booking confirmation, and travel insurance certificate. Keep them together in a folder.
3
Arrive at Libreville International Airport (LBV)
After landing, follow signs to 'Immigration'. Join the queue for foreign passports. Hand over your passport, printed eVisa, and return ticket. The officer will stamp you in — usually takes 2-5 minutes. No additional forms needed.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After immigration, proceed to baggage claim, then customs. There's no arrival declaration form to fill. You're free to leave the airport.

Frequently asked questions

Standard processing takes 3-7 business days. There's an expedited option (24-48 hours) that costs more — around €100-150. Apply at least two weeks before your trip to be safe.
No. The eVisa is not extendable. If you need to stay longer, you must leave the country and reapply for a new eVisa from outside Gabon. Overstaying can result in fines or a ban.
Rejections are rare but can happen if your documents are incomplete or your passport is damaged. You'll receive an email explaining the reason. You can reapply after fixing the issue — the fee is not refunded.
Yes. Gabon requires proof of yellow fever vaccination for all travellers over 1 year old. Carry your International Certificate of Vaccination (yellow card) — immigration may ask to see it.
No. The eVisa is mandatory for Israeli passport holders. There is no visa-on-arrival option. You must have the eVisa approved before boarding your flight.
The currency is the Central African CFA franc (XAF). Credit cards are accepted at major hotels and some restaurants in Libreville, but cash is king everywhere else. Bring euros or US dollars to exchange — there are ATMs but they're unreliable.
Gabon is generally safe for tourists, but petty crime like pickpocketing and bag snatching happens in Libreville and Port-Gentil. Avoid walking alone at night, don't flash valuables, and use registered taxis. The wildlife parks (like Loango National Park) are well-run and safe.
