Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
UK Visa Application
Visa required
You need a visa before traveling to the UK. Apply online at the official UK government portal — the process takes 3 weeks on average. You'll need to attend a biometric appointment at a visa application centre in Israel.Apply for UK visaRequired
Valid passport
Required
Your passport must be valid for the entire duration of your stay in the UK. No minimum validity beyond your departure date is required by UK immigration, but airlines may enforce 6 months — check with your carrier.Required
Return or onward ticket
Required
Immigration officers at UK borders routinely ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return flight or onward ticket ready to show.Required
Proof of accommodation
Recommended
Carry your hotel booking confirmation or a letter of invitation from your UK host. Border officers may ask where you're staying, especially if you're a first-time visitor.Recommended
Proof of funds
Recommended
Have bank statements or a credit card showing you can support yourself during your stay. UK immigration doesn't set a fixed minimum, but you should show enough to cover accommodation, food, and transport.Recommended
Visa required — no exceptions
Israeli passport holders cannot enter the UK without a visa. There is no visa waiver or eTA for tourism. Apply well in advance — processing can take 3 weeks or more.
Passport validity counts from entry date
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you arrive in the UK, not from the day you apply. If it expires sooner, renew your passport first.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for a Standard Visitor visa online
Go to gov.uk/apply-uk-visa and fill out the online application. You'll need to upload your documents and pay the fee (£115 for a 6-month visa as of 2026). After submitting, you'll book an appointment at a Visa Application Centre (VAC) — in Israel, that's in Tel Aviv.
2
Attend your biometrics appointment
Go to the TLScontact centre in Tel Aviv (or the VAC assigned to you). Bring your passport, appointment confirmation, and any supporting documents. They'll take your photo and fingerprints. This takes about 15–20 minutes.
3
Wait for a decision
Standard processing takes 3 weeks, but can be longer during peak seasons. You'll get an email when your passport is ready for collection or courier delivery. Track your application online.
4
Arrive in the UK and go through border control
At the airport, follow signs to 'UK Border' (not EU). Join the 'All Other Passports' queue. Hand over your passport with the visa vignette. The officer may ask about your trip, accommodation, and return plans. Answer clearly and honestly. They'll usually stamp your passport with the allowed stay.

Frequently asked questions

Standard processing is 3 weeks from your biometrics appointment. You can pay for priority service (5 working days) for about £250 extra, or super priority (next working day) for about £1000 extra. Check current fees on gov.uk.
No. Standard Visitor visas are not extendable. You must leave before your visa expires. If you need to stay longer, you'd need a different visa type (e.g., a work or study visa) applied for from outside the UK.
Yes, immigration officers can ask for proof of onward travel. Have a printed or digital copy of your return or onward ticket ready. It's not always checked, but it's better to have it.
You'll receive a refusal letter explaining why. Common reasons include insufficient funds, unclear travel history, or weak ties to Israel. You can reapply, but you'll need to address the refusal reasons. There's no appeal for visitor visas — you just reapply.
No. The UK and Ireland are separate countries. A UK visa does not give you entry to Ireland. You'd need a separate Irish visa if you plan to visit.
No. There is no visa-on-arrival or eTA for Israeli citizens. You must have a valid visa before you travel. The only exception is if you're transiting airside (not passing through border control) for less than 24 hours — but even then, you need a visa if you plan to leave the transit area.
There's no fixed amount, but you need to show you can cover your entire stay without working. A general rule: at least £100–150 per day for accommodation, food, and transport. Bank statements for the last 3–6 months are standard.
