Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
Valid passport
Must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure date from Lithuania
Your passport needs at least 3 months of validity after your planned exit from the Schengen area. Airlines check this at check-in — if your passport expires sooner, you will be denied boarding. The passport must have been issued within the last 10 years.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure from the Schengen area
Immigration officers at Vilnius Airport routinely ask for a return or onward ticket showing you leave the Schengen zone within 90 days. Budget airlines like Ryanair and Wizz Air also check this at check-in. A bus or train ticket to a non-Schengen country works too.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Have a hotel confirmation, Airbnb reservation, or a letter from your host ready. Border officers ask for it about half the time at land borders and occasionally at the airport. The booking must cover your entire stay.Recommended
Proof of funds
Show you can support yourself during the visit
Lithuania requires at least €40 per person per day of stay. A bank statement, credit card, or cash works. Officers rarely ask for it, but if you look like you are working or staying too long, they will request proof.Recommended
90-day limit applies to the whole Schengen area
Your 90 visa-free days are shared across all 27 Schengen countries. If you spend 30 days in France, then 30 in Germany, you only have 30 left for Lithuania. Track your days carefully — overstaying by even one day can trigger a ban.
Border officers can ask for proof of funds
Though not always requested, you should be able to show you have at least €50–€100 per day of your stay. A bank statement or credit card with sufficient limit works. Keep a screenshot on your phone.

What happens at the border

1
Arrive at Vilnius Airport (VNO) or Kaunas Airport (KUN)
You'll go through Schengen border control. Have your passport, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer will check your passport validity and stamp it. The queue is usually 10–20 minutes.
2
Show your documents if asked
Most Israeli passport holders breeze through, but occasionally an officer asks for proof of funds or onward travel. Just hand over your printed or digital copies calmly.
3
Get your entry stamp
The officer stamps your passport with the date of entry. Check the stamp before walking away — if it's smudged or missing, ask them to re-stamp it. You'll need it to prove you didn't overstay.
