Entry requirements

RequirementDetailsStatus
eVisa application
Apply before travel
You need an eVisa to enter Qatar. Apply through the Hukoomi portal — the official government eVisa platform. Processing usually takes a few days, so apply at least a week before your flight.Apply for eVisaRequired
Valid passport
Must be valid for duration of stay
Your passport must be valid for the entire time you plan to stay in Qatar. No specific 6-month rule applies, but airlines may enforce their own policies — check with your carrier before flying.Required
Return or onward ticket
Proof of departure
Immigration officers routinely ask for a return or onward ticket at Doha airport. Have a printed or digital copy of your flight booking ready. Without one, you may be denied boarding.Required
Proof of accommodation
Hotel booking or host invitation
Carry a hotel confirmation or a letter from your host in Qatar. Immigration may ask where you're staying, especially if you're on a tourist eVisa. A simple booking printout works.Recommended
Proof of funds
Bank statement or cash
Have a bank statement or credit card showing you can cover your stay. Qatar doesn't publish a fixed minimum, but 2,000–3,000 QAR per week is a safe benchmark. Officers rarely ask, but it's better to have it.Recommended
Passport validity is strictly enforced
Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the day you enter Qatar. If it expires sooner, you will be denied boarding by the airline or refused entry at immigration. Renew your passport well in advance.
Keep digital copies of everything
Save your eVisa PDF, return ticket, and hotel confirmation on your phone. Also carry a printed copy of your eVisa — some immigration officers prefer paper. Having both covers you if your phone dies or the network is down.

What happens at the border

1
Apply for the eVisa online
Go to the Hukoomi portal (the official Qatari government service). Fill in your personal details, upload a passport photo and a scan of your passport bio page, and pay the fee. Processing usually takes 2–5 business days — apply at least a week before your trip.
2
Receive and save your eVisa
The eVisa will be emailed to you as a PDF. Save it on your phone and print a paper copy to carry with your passport. Double-check that your name and passport number match exactly.
3
Arrive at Hamad International Airport (DOH)
When you land in Doha, proceed to immigration. Have your passport, printed eVisa, return ticket, and accommodation confirmation ready. The officer will scan your passport and stamp you in — the whole process usually takes 5–10 minutes.
4
Collect your luggage and exit
After clearing immigration, head to baggage claim, then customs. There are no arrival forms to fill out. Once through, you're free to enter Qatar.
